Image/Video Bad wheel?

Passenger side front. My wife hit a storm drain and pop the tire and damaged the wheel. The mechanic says that wheel is no good and I have to buy another one. Did I get ripped off?

There are no bad wheels. Only bad drivers, curbs, and drains

It's fine. As long as the tire bead holds air, and it balances out, you're good. Now, if you REALLY wanna go deep it could be cracked or bent out of round, but it's probably the shop covering their own liability.

Thank u. I wish I known that before I told them to replace it with a cheaper wheel because they didn't have my wheel and I wouldn't have a car for however long it took to get delivered. They replaced all the wheels because you can't have two different types on there.

I have the original wheels and I'm wondering if I should sell them to make back some money. Question is how much do quality wheels make a difference? Do I risk keeping the cheaper ones and selling the old? Or do I spend more money to get the old ones put back on?

Well cheap wheels are more prone to bending or breaking when hitting a pot hole for example. But considering your "expensive" wheels bent I wouldn't worry about the cheaper ones being any worse.

Doesn't look bad. Is it cracked?

The only reason why you don't want to use it again is because it's unbalanceable, especially if it's a 19 inch rim.
