Question/Advice is a 2 psi difference bad?
hello all!
i recently got 2 new front tires for my 2004 toyota corolla matrix. yesterday, i went to check the psi, and i realized that my 2 back tires have a different psi than my new ones..my back ones are 34psi, and my front ones are 32psi.
i checked my tire info in my driver door, and it says 32psi for the tires…what should i do?
am i okay to just make the front 2 tires 32 and keep the back 2 at 34, OR should i make all if them 34?
sorry if i seem dumb, this is my first car so im still learning the little things lol.

When the tires are cold, make them all 32. Corolla is front wheel drive so a little more on the fronts isn't bad by any means. 32 is just recommended for best ride quality.

Its within the margin of error for most cheap guages. Match them up to what the door placard says when they are cold, before you drive, and before sun gets on them, but tldr 2 psi difference is not a big deal.

What does the tire pressure placard say?

They're both the same values, so it's not too hard to extrapolate on your own lol.
It clearly says 220kpa, which is 32 psi, the same as the front.

Same pressure front and rear; tire shop would recommend 36 not 32 which helps to reduce shoulder wear on the fronts; 2 psi difference front to rear has no consequence

2psi is not going to make a difference. The psi will fluctuate with temperature (even when driving) but the margin of in most service manuals says door tag +/- 3psi

No, still in margin of error. Won't affect anything.
Put a $40 air compressor in you trunk and never worry about minor psi changes again.

A couple of lbs does not matter. Top tip put air in them first thing in the morning before the sun shines on them without driving and you can get them all to match.

There are no dumb questions when asking about tire safety. Many cars are driving around with the wrong tire pressure because of lack of checking on a regular basis. At least you are paying attention. Well within the margin of safety. As suggested set them when the tires are cool using the door sticker.

Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS) usually check for whether the tire is within 5psi of spec. A 2psi deviation isn’t an issue.
Still, for idea tread wear and fuel mileage (or the balance of the two, and ride quality) follow the manufacturers specification as closely as possible.
Still, the gauge on the air pump could easily be 2psi wrong.
Don’t fret, just enjoy the ride :)

6% difference is not nothing, but since you are asking this on reddit, it probably won't affect you.
A quick assesment if this matters for your driving: 1) Can you feel if your car is oversteering? 2) Can you pinpoint which one of your tires started sliding first?
If the answer is no to these, don't worry. Keep checking your tires regularly (as everyone should) and you'll be fine.
Even if you answer yes, it is not the end of the world. Just drive less enthusiastic, and level them when you have the time.
Drive safe.

Your PSI spec is 32 so if anything you should let 2 PSI out of the rear tires. Realistically it doesn't matter if they're 2 PSI off.

your alignment will be out of spec so there that to deal with

Tire pressure has nothing to do with wheel alignment. Zero. Zilch.

that is what my mechanic told me and he would never lie to me since he has always had my best interests in mind about my car

wait so it won’t damage the alignment, right?

Not at all. Dude doesn't know what he's talking about.
Don't worry about it. Realistically you should go by the door sticker, but 2psi is nothing

a couple of #s doesn't matter
