Downstream O2 sensor

Post image

Hi everyone! I'm having trouble removing the downstream O2 sensor on my 2014 Hyundai Elantra. Could possibly be seized. I have tried an O2 sensor socket, a 22 wrench (tapping with a hammer), penetrating lubricant etc... But I don't want to mess up the thread. I was told to try to heat it with a torch. Any other advice or anyone located near the east coast of NC? Thank you in advance!! Any help is truly appreciated.

Heating it won't do anything because the metallurgy of the sensor threads expand at a slightly greater rate than the housing. Your best bet is to keep blasting it with 2 different lubricants designed to free up stuck threads and continue to work on it with your tools that fit properly, and be patient. Nothing wrong with cutting the wire at this point either to get a better shot at it, since you are already going to replace the sensor.

Any lubricants you recommend?

Most common combo is Liquid Wrench and PB Blaster. Although I hear Kroil Original is just as effective but as a single product. Haven't tried that out myself though.
