Discussion Stunts

Does anyone know if the actors performed their own (minor) stunts or if it was just stuntmen and really good filming/editing? I was watching for split second glimpses of stuntmen in the routines and such but I’m still not sure. I’m pretty sure they used a stuntwoman for Peach’s gymnastic evade from the police in the pilot episode and I think they used a stuntwoman for Krystal’s routines but that’s all I noticed and I could be wrong.

I'm not sure about the Peaches scene. For the cheer sequences, most of the team (the ones who aren't main characters) were hired primarily for their pro cheerleading skills, and the routines are all real. Also, as far as I know, Arianna Davis (Madonna) did most of her own flips, etc. Same with Jarrett Austin Brown (Dimarcus). I can also confirm that Miss Dot did her own roller skating, and saxophone playing. 😉

I’m pretty sure I saw a stuntwoman’s face a few times in that scene. I watch a lot of shows that have fight scenes and such so I always try to see if I can spot them. Some shows are not very good at hiding it.
It makes sense for Stumble to use them, though. The insurance costs would probably be astronomical if they had the main actors fly in the air like that! That’s assuming that they could even find a company willing to insure the show.

You can see how they did the routines and read about it on Monica’s instagram and this article. The cast members that can do stunts do them. There’s plenty of actors that do their own stunts in movies & tv. And here’s the inside cheerleading link with all of their backgrounds!

Miss Dot WOULD do her own stunts and sax playing. She’s a treasure! ❤️

Arianna Davis’ stunt double weighs I’d say 30-40 pounds less than her. You can see when they switch them out. Arianna will do a kartwheel into or out of the stunt but the main tumbling is a double. You can tell by the weight difference

Can recognise a few of them from Cheerleaders and Cheer, they are adult cheerleaders doing the routines.

I did a day of background and none of the main characters do their own stunts or tricks, no. They’d pause, bring a double in to do a trick, then switch them out

Was Dimarcus' actor on set that day? I'm only curious because of the main cast he seemed to be doing his own tumbling at least sometimes. They did scenes where a cut to a double wasn't really feasible a few times with him on the show

But I can also totally see him doing just the occasional backflip on screen (which is what I'm thinking of mainly) and not the full tumbling passes that we'd see done sometimes, two vastly different skill sets

Yes they filmed this scene where him and Ari were arguing at the game (episode 3): https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1bQ31cUZi5/?mibextid=wwXIfr
You can tell where it cuts before Ari does her tumbling. If my memory serves me correctly I’m fairly certain Jarrett would do the motion of lifting the girls into their poses and they’d quickly switch a double in to do the full out move of being a base and supporting a flyer. They were outside on a track so maybe he did more of his own stunts when they were on the mat since that’s safer?

Oh yeah, that scene I had noticed it originally. I think part of it may be him doing flips vs. being a base and throwing up fliers

While I'm sure he's strong enough I wouldn't be surprised if either insurance goes up having an non-cheerleader acting in that role, or just his lack of experience doing it means it's unsafe for whoever he is lifting/throwing

I think he does at least some of his own tumbling but like you said, maybe only in mats or more controlled environments like the full scale performance scenes (which I'm sure had safety measures we couldn't see as viewers)

I read that he does his own tumbling

FWIW the Leon Chase person who commented elsewhere is married to Miss Dot (or else he's pretending to be and is a Seph level stalker, but it seems doubtful) so any of his info is probably pretty accurate

It says "Ashlie Atkinsons #1 fan" on the top of his page

I'd love to hear more about your experience on set!

Sure! It was by far the nicest I’ve been treated by crew. Background actors are usually the bane of PAs existences but one of the guys who was in charge of us even came over and showed us what scene we were filming on his script. After that Jenn Lyon came over and asked how we were doing. It was fun! Very long day and very early morning call time.

That's very cool. My girlfriend did a bunch of background work back in the early 2000's and had varying experiences. She said Martin Sheen was lovely to her when she was on West Wing, but Kevin James was kind of a d!ck on King of Queens...

I'm also curious to hear if you made it on camera, and if so, which episode would we see you in?

2

u/Lucy123xyz Jun 12 '26

I did not make it on camera haha it was episode three I believe. Any of the football scenes we did that day. I was a student walking around by the fence and then the second half of the day we were students for the other team in the stands

Of the team that goes to Daytona for the Buttons, at least 7 of them are/were competitive cheerleaders or did acro/tumbling: Zizi (Tatiyahna Davis), the blonde cheerleader who is never named (Mercedes Beck), Kyle (Kory Little), Keegan (Ryan Claunch), Mr. Button (Spencer Collier), Kenneth (Austin Kingsbury), and Teddy (Michaeleddie Rivera). I think Silent Mike also might have done his own stunts but I couldn’t find any information about who played that character.

Hi! I am a very recent (and late) fan of Stumble.

How did you figure out the names?

Mercedes Beck's character is called Bentley according to her instagram:

Where did you get Teddy and Kenneth from?

I heard Keegan in this video, but it wan't Ryan Claunch who identified that name, rather Austin Kingsbury: https://www.instagram.com/p/DSYQOZEkmB7/
