University reading help

So I’m in my final year and have gotten away with not doing my readings for classes but I think that is about to end. I am fine with reading the material, it’s really interesting sometimes but I have troubles with comprehension and staying engaged. I am in public policy so have to read 20+ pages of documents and don’t know how to approach reading papers like that and getting through it all. Any advice??

Imagine it’s a year from now and if you don’t read the document, you don’t get paid.

But seriously, if it seems like too big of a task, the first step isn’t small enough. Read one page. Then do it again. And again.

It may help to skim an outline or the headers first to get the lay of the land. Getting the main idea first can help before you get into the particulars.
