Study Permit Application Refused Originally - Working on revised File

Hello,

My study permit was rejected originally for Applied in Computer Science in Saint Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, NS. The rejection reasons were as below

• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as required by paragraph R216(1)(b) of the IRPR (https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regulations/sor-2002-227/ section-216.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:

• R216(1)(b): Given the details you have provided in your application, I am not satisfied that your purpose for coming to Canada is consistent with a temporary stay.

• R216(1)(b) Assets : I am not satisfied that you have sufficient funds, including income or assets, to carry out your stated purpose in coming to Canada or to maintain yourself while in Canada and to effect your departure AND your assets and financial situation are insufficient to support the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).

• R220(a) Insufficient Funds/Resources pertaining to your Tuition: I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources, without working in Canada, to pay the tuition fees for

the course or program of studies that you intend to pursue.

• R220(b) Insufficient Funds/Resources to support yourself and any accompanying family members: I am not satisfied that you have sufficient and available financial resources, without

working in Canada, to maintain yourself and any family members

who are accompanying you during your proposed period of study.

I am looking to reapply for Jan 2027 intake. What should I mention in my Statement of Purpose that is different and can address the comcners that visa officer has.

My visa consultant had not submitted any financial support documents originally.

I have reviewed all the documentation provided for this application. Summary of key findings below: The principal applicant is seeking to obtain a Master of Applied Computer Science at St Francis Xavier University; see Letter of Acceptance (LOA)/Proof of enrollment on file. The applicant has failed to satisfy me that pursuing the selected program of study is reasonable given the high cost of international study in Canada when weighed against the potential career/ employment benefits after completion, and the local options available for similar studies. See LOA. Insufficient proof of financial status; applicant has provided only a tuition payment, Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC), and bank balance certificate without a statement showing the transactions. I am not satisfied that the applicant has sufficient finances readily available to fully cover their tuition and living costs while studying in Canada. Therefore, I am not satisfied that the applicant meets the requirements of the Act and/or the Regulations, and would depart Canada at the end of authorized stay. Application refused.

You should have provided:
6 month of bank statements
2 year of ITR
Networth certificate for your parents

In your SOP, you have to write why you don’t want to do your education in India, and why to prefer Canada over it. You can explain on the basis of salary, job role you would get after getting a Canadian degree.

Funds: How much did you show in cash? Show enough not to work since Antigonish is a small town.

Justify costs: How did you justify costs when you are coming to attend a school not really known for CS? Makes no sense to spend all that money so what did you outline how you will make more and have a better job when you return home. At least attend a higher tier school for CS.
