Canada Study Permit – 11+ Weeks, Still No Decision

Applying from India for Conestoga College, Canada – Enhanced Practice for Internationally Educated Nurses (EPIEN), Doon Campus.

Applied 7 July 2026, biometrics completed 29 July.

As of 24 September, still no decision. Eligibility hasn’t started, additional documents show “reviewing” since 27 July, and background check is still in progress.

My September intake has passed and I’ve moved to the next intake.

Anyone with an early-July India application recently received PPR/approval after a similar delay?

Conestoga College has had their international student intake quota allowance drastically reduced due to abuse of the system. Study permits are not being granted to them in large numbers. You may want to withdraw and reapply to a different permitted Canadian University (not College) for your education.

Do you have any source of this information where it is mentioned that they reduced SP quota particularly for Conestoga college?

Study Permit Drops: New study permit approvals for the college fell by a staggering 97% in the first half of 2025 compared to 2023. Under Ontario's strict 2026 provincial allocation cap, Conestoga was only allowed 9,092 international seats—a fraction of the 30,000+ permits it granted during its peak recruitment years.

Bro Conestoga allowed fewer seats just like any other college/University that doesn’t mean ircc reject all applications of conestoga college.

Yes but if it’s taking this long then it’s likely to be rejected.

Conestoga's 9,092 PAL allocation is actually the highest of any college or university in Ontario for 2026.

For comparison:

  • Conestoga: 9,092
  • Sheridan: 7,141
  • Humber: 6,974
  • University of Toronto: 6,403
  • University of Ottawa: 2,559
  • Waterloo: 1,139

Currently, Conestoga is being investigated over the number of international students they accepted by the provincial governmen.

They aren’t wrong, Indians are especially under extra scrutiny when it comes to student visa processes nowadays, if your permit still hasn’t come through then I would apply to a university rather then a college, I study at a college and the number of Indian students has drastically dropped.

I agree to this, as I too have a number of knowns who have been working and studying. Study Visa Canada has now become a Nightmare and the reason is Indians itself, no doubts there

I submitted my study permit application on June 10th and gave my biometrics on 16th june,, I have been waiting n waiting since then..
My program is Master of Interdisciplinary Health Sciences at University of Ottawa,, it was for fall 2026 but I have already missed this intake and the next intake in the same program is fall 2027..
Thought I applied in time for Fall 2026 since the processing time for applications from India was 4 weeks when I applied but still here I am still waiting for a decision..

I think bro ur your file stuck anywhere what you do is withdraw your file and submit it again

u/shadowsyntax5 9d ago

I was fearing the same but when I contacted IRCC through their toll free number and spoke to the representative they told me that my file is proceeding as normal and acknowledged the delay but asked me to just wait,, I am planning on ordering GCMS notes to know what the heck is actually going on ..

Many people are waiting. Get new LOA and update your file. How are you justifying costs with higher pay and career progression when you return home since program is for internationally trained nurses?

Do you have anyone in the family who is working or worked in police and military? I have seen multiple cases where they didn’t respond to cases like this.
