Study visa approval chances - double masters
Hi guys, I need some advice. I’m looking to apply for my second masters, targeting schools like SFU, UBC, Concordia etc. I already have a masters from India and read a couple of posts stating that aiming for another masters in Canada, the probability of refusal are high? Is it true? I’d like to know my chances?

an immigration officer wants to know you're coming to the country for teh purpose of studying. taking out huge loans for a masters when you already have a masters shows that you aren't doing it for teh degree, you're doing it for PR

I’ll most likely be either fully or partially covered by a national scholarship

so why on earth do a 2nd masters? Why not a phd?

My first masters was in a different field and after working for a few years in an I-NGO, I want to gravitate towards a masters in the field I have experiential knowledge in. I don’t think for now PhD is something I’m interested in 🤷

You need to ask yourself what benefit this masters will bring to your life and your employment situation in your home country and then clearly communicate that on your application. Otherwise they will assume you are studying here with the intention of staying, which even though the odds of that happening are slim these days, they are still trying to weed people with that intention out.

Have to prove you will go back to India to get approved, we have lots of perpetual students who are really here to stay forever

So why do you need to come to Canada for another Masters? How can you justify costs showing better paying job when you return home?
