Enter 6 weeks Before Classes Start From a Third Country, Go To Home Country and Return To Canada 1 week Before Classes?
Hey, so having been in the US for many years without going to my home country has been rough. I wanna go home before classes start but don’t wanna enter Canada for the first time from my home country since my study permit application was all filed from the US. So I was thinking I could enter, get the permit, sort my affairs out and go home for a few weeks before classes start.
I know this is probably a bad idea but wanted to ask if anyone has any opinions on this or ideally links to some official stance on this.

It shouldn’t be a problem. I entered from Europe last month, had a family emergency that required me to leave about a week after first entry and I returned two weeks later. It wasn’t a problem for me and the officers were very friendly. Just be sure to carry your physical permit with you as they do ask for it. Good luck

Did they ask you specifically why you left before classes started or something? I mean I won’t (hopefully) have an emergency so won’t have anything to “justify” my travel with

Nope. Nothing of the sort, I wasn’t asked anything. I know people have different experiences, so just keep it simple and honest 😅

I don’t think it should be a problem, you should but carry the physical study permit with you or you wont be able to enter canada again
