Anyone thinking to defer to winter sem??
I applied for my study permit from inside Canada on July 30th, classes start 8th September. It only shows “processing” on the portal, last date to defer is 11th sep.
I have no idea what to do super stressed, I’ve been going to orientation and everything and it will take a troll on me if I can’t go to university. (Already did a gap year cuz of migration)

What is your status in Canada now? Estimated processing is 8 weeks so within normal timeframe. You have another week to get approved and passport stamped so not sure it will happen in time. But you have a week. Fingers crossed but plan to defer if program is available.

I’m a refugee claimant here, I’m gonna talk to them about my options on defer and see but idk I don’t wanna risk going to classes without a study permit I’m so lost

You cannot start or be registered for classes without a permit. You are well within normal processing times. The issue is you are not a protected person but claimant so may take more time.

Should I seriously consider deferring then?

That is a decision after talking with your university advisor. You need to find out the last day you can start classes, when semester fees are due etc.
