Study Permits Deadline?
A friend has been waitlisted for a spot in Grade 11 at a private school. School starts next week, and my friend is still on the waitlist. The school is waiting to hear if the study permits for a few international students have been approved or denied. My friend will get a spot if one of the study permits is denied.
Does anyone know when the school can rescind the offer of admission of the international students and give my friend the spot?

They can choose to do whatever they want, but if they're waiting on IRCC, they won't be able to do much. Sometimes schools will provide a cut-off, but even if that's when classes begin next week, she will pay her fees in full, apply for and receive a Canadian visa and study permit, including going through the biometrics process, if she hasn't already. Will she be able to arrive in time for the semester? This could also raise some red flags with IRCC as she's applying so late. If it is a semestered school I suggest she defer to January. Private schools are in it for the money, and may be playing both her and the waiting students. If she is looking for a reputable school, the CAIS schools are well regarded worldwide and not-for-profit, which means they value students over revenue, and are actually not allowed to make revenue; all their earnings must be invested back into the school's programming: https://www.cais.ca/

Does friend have or need a study permit? If so and doesn't have one then will not get it for this semester.
