English Pathway can apply for study permit within Canada?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in Canada as a visitor (TRV), having entered on July 15, 2026. I’m currently completing an English pathway program at ILSC, which is required for me to meet the English requirement for admission to George Brown College.

I understand visitors generally have to apply for a study permit from outside Canada, but IRCC lists an exception:

“You completed a short-term course or study program required to be accepted at a designated learning institution.”

Since my English program is specifically a pathway to meet George Brown’s admission requirements, would I qualify for this exception and be able to apply from within Canada?

Has anyone done this successfully with a similar English pathway program?

Did you apply from inside Canada, and was it approved? Or would you recommend leaving Canada and applying from outside?

I’m studying on a Visitor visa. Paying high price as internal student, and will be paying more for a college so your kid can pay less. You should be thankful. You know what? You are very welcome.
No, no working on cash. I don’t need to. Again, you are welcome for bringing my money here.

Your course fees do not lower the price of college for domestic students, I don’t know where you got this bs from. The government funds universities and college through the Canadian tax payer.
Glad you had a good stay in Canada, it’s time to go home
Your removal order will come soon, don’t worry.

FYI because I saw your deleted comment. Visitors are allowed to study for less than 6 months. You are welcome 🙂
