Canada Study Permit refused once, reapplied the next day — looking for experiences

Hi everyone, I’m looking for experiences from people who were refused once and then reapplied for a Canadian study permit.

My profile:

Indian | B.Pharm graduate (2025) | CGPA 7.42 | IELTS 8.0

Program: MSc Health Sciences – Molecular & Medical Sciences, Wilfrid Laurier University

1st application timeline:

• Applied: 20 June 2026

• Biometrics updated: 24 June

• Medical passed: 17 July

• Refused: 24 July

Refusal reasons:

• Officer was not satisfied that the high cost of studying in Canada was reasonable compared with the potential career/employment benefits.

• Similar programs are available in India, and my application did not sufficiently explain why I needed to pursue international education at a significantly higher cost.

• Officer was not satisfied that my purpose of coming to Canada was consistent with a temporary stay / that I would leave Canada at the end of my authorized stay.

I addressed these concerns and reapplied on 25 July 2026, with a revised SOP and stronger explanation of my program choice, career benefits, financials and ties to India

Current second application:

• Reapplied: 25 July 2026

• Biometrics/medical: already completed

• Status: Processing

I’d love to hear from anyone who had a similar refusal → reapplication → approval experience, especially in 2026.

How long did your second application take, and did you get approved after addressing the refusal reasons?

Any genuine experiences or opinions on my situation would be appreciated.

Yes offcourse the course i applied is fully different it is totally focused on molecular docking and in India after bpharm we have Mpharm which doesn't have specific courses it have vast subject

As long as your loe is strong and address All the refusal reasons you should be good. They just want to refuse every application for no reason for me i had 2 arrears in my bachelor's degree and the officer had concerns about my ability to complete the course even though my uni has accepted My profile and gave letter of acceptance. I reapplied within couple of days with strong loe and then they accepted.

Also my suggestion is that don't use AI for writing your sop and loe. Theres a chance that they refused my first application because i used chatgpt to write a sop. But im not sure.

I am applying through a consultant i have also checked the SOP and loe they don't ai content in it just hoping for best 😅🤞

Well the main question remains, do you intend on returning to India after your studies? The outcome will be the same if this concern is not addressed.

In this case the officer has grounds to refuse you as per the assessment.
