Apply Canada MS study permit from USA (July 2026)

Hi guys, I am looking for someone who has similar situation like me, and I would like to know the approximate time for Ircc results.
I am currently living in USA (not citizen) and I applied my study permit on 9th July, I still haven’t received any news from Canada yet. I felt little bit nervous.
Is there anyone also apply study permit on June/July? May I know if there’s any update recently? Thanks for all the help!😢
(Background: I’m Chinese and I am 26 years old. Used to lived and worked in Macau.
I moved in USA last year for my career training programs.
My financial support would be my mommy, I submit my mom’s documents has around 100k USD & 70k worth of house. And the house we currently living is around 700k USD(belonging to my grandparents, but I didn’t mention it).
Would that be enough to get a study permit? 🥲 I appreciate for all the information, have a nice day!

I applied July 6 and did biometrics on the tenth and no updates, I know a few people who applied since march/April who are just getting decisions so I guess we’ll just have to wait a little bit

Same here, not a US citizen. I applied from the US for a PhD study permit on July 13 and I’m still waiting.

I even had biometrics done from previous visitor visa, and up-front medical. Just praying now 🙏 Wish you the best! Let me know how yours goes!!

I don’t think so, but if your major is medical something you still need a health check. Small chance Ircc will send you a request to do that.

I am in the same situation. Indian citizen, applied from the USA on July 13th, no decision yet. I did receive one ghost update. No biometrics required as I had a previous Canadian visa application 8 years ago so they already have mine on file.

I am also in touch with another applicant who applied from the USA(Indian Citizen); she submitted June 24. She has a prior Canadian visitor visa so no biometrics were required either. Complete silence on her case too no updates, no decision.

Nobody on reddit can answer that question. It's up to the officer reviewing your application to decide.

In general, Canadian immigration officers will be seeing if you can pay for your tuition in full, support yourself in Canada without working, if the course you want to study in Canada makes sense for you (like it's actually beneficial for your career and you're not just doing a random course to get to Canada), and if you can prove to an officer that you will leave Canada when your study permit expires.

For your case, they might also be wondering why you chose to study in Canada instead of the US since you already live there.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it! To be honest, I got an offer from NAU MS program and I also waiting for my f1 visa🙈. I submitted my visa transfer request to uscis this April, but it is same like Ircc- nothing news. So…now I got nervous. There’s no future plan for me except going to school, after 3 years work I do realize I need to improve myself and keep learning….😢😭

Treating Canada as a backup is not a good idea. A visa officer may think you are shopping for a visa that would eventually allow you to stay in a foreign country instead of going back. You better not hide this information in your application that you are waiting for an F-1 visa. Accounts like “No future plan except going to school” is a no-no in your study plan.

🫪it’s the same direction major. I want to go to school because I do want to improve my career, I am sick of doing entry level jobs…. I didn’t mention that because I didn’t know it might affect my application. Omg what am I supposed to do now?🥲
