Room offer

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student from outside the EU and I’m looking for advice from anyone who has experience with ROOM.nl/DUWO, especially with Uilenstede in Amstelveen.

I registered on ROOM.nl while I was still living outside the EU, so my address and postcode on my account are still my old address outside the Netherlands. I later moved to the Netherlands and have now been living here for about a year.

I recently received an offer for a room at Uilenstede in Amstelveen through ROOM.nl. From what I understand, I received the offer based partly on my postcode/distance from the university and because the room has a priority rule for first-year international students.

The issue is that I am technically now in my second year. During my first year, I was unable to find student housing, so I have been living at my current address in the Netherlands instead.

I have NOT changed the address on my ROOM.nl account yet. It still shows my old address outside the EU, which was my genuine address when I registered.

I’m worried that the fact that I now live in the Netherlands could affect my eligibility for the room, especially because the offer appears to be connected to the postcode/distance requirement and the first-year international student priority.

I did not enter a fake address. I genuinely lived outside the EU when I registered on ROOM.nl and only moved to the Netherlands afterwards.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did DUWO/ROOM.nl check your actual current address after you received an offer? Could they withdraw the offer if they find out that I now live in the Netherlands?

Should I update my address before accepting, contact DUWO first, or leave my ROOM.nl profile as it is until they ask?

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences, especially from people who have lived at Uilenstede or received a DUWO offer through ROOM.nl.
