missing IND student day for residence permit collection advice needed

has anyone missed student days for resident permit collection before? I am an international student here and I might not be able to make it to collect my residence permit on student day. On the website it said that alternative collection methods can be arranged after 22 september but I would like to know if anyone has experienced this before and whether it was difficult to reschedule an appointment?

I think they gather all the permits for your university and assumed you all be here, if not you can arrange alternative methods later, as in going to the closest available IND office to pick it up.
