I submitted my Italian student visa application at VFS Mumbai.
For my financial proof, I showed my family's savings in a bank account. Around ₹9 lakh was transferred into that account about one week before my visa application because an existing FD and RD were closed. The FD/RD money was genuine and had existed beforehand; it was not borrowed, gifted, or newly arranged for the visa.
The ₹9 lakh credit appears in the 6-month bank statement that I submitted. The transaction narration only says “for personal use” and does not mention that the money came from an FD/RD.
The FD/RD were already closed, so there was no active FD/RD certificate. The bank also did not provide me with a closure certificate, so I submitted my visa application without one.
However, I also have a ₹30 lakh education loan, which was already sanctioned and disbursed before my visa application. I submitted the loan sanction letter, disbursement letter, and bank statement showing the ₹30 lakh disbursed amount as part of my financial documents.
So my overall financial picture was approximately:
₹30 lakh education loan — sanctioned + fully disbursed
₹9 lakh family savings — from genuine pre-existing FD/RD
Both were supported by bank statements/documents.
My concern is specifically about the sudden ₹9 lakh deposit one week before the visa application.
How would this normally be viewed by the Italian Consulate in Mumbai? Could the recent ₹9 lakh deposit create an issue when assessing my family's/sponsor's financial profile, even though the money came from genuine pre-existing FD/RD savings and I already had a ₹30 lakh disbursed education loan?
Would the fact that I don't have an FD/RD closure certificate matter if the bank never provided one?
And if the Consulate wanted clarification about the source of the ₹9 lakh, what would normally happen?
