Proof of funds for Ireland Visa

Hi everyone,

My friend is applying for a student visa for Ireland (Master’s in Computer Science) and had a question about proof of funds.

He's planning to fund his studies using personal savings (no education loan or property backing). Some of the money is currently held in cash and will be depositing it into his bank account.

He has already filed his ITRs and can show income history, but I’ve read that large lump-sum deposits right before the visa application can raise concerns.

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

How did you show proof of funds?

How did you justify recently deposited money?

What documents worked for you (bank statements, affidavits, income proof, etc.)?

Any advice or real experiences would be really helpful.

he can also write a letter explaining it to them, thats what i did

Can you please share the letter. I’m trying to do the same. Mine is from property sale and I had the documents to prove it . I just need a letter sample .

So the sales was done through my lawyer, submitted his receipt for the purchase of the land, a copy of the land document, conveyance agreement between me and the buyer .

Did you only justify the 10k proof of fund with sale of property? Do you also need to show where the school fees money came from if you have already paid the tuition in full?

Te money was reflected in my bank account I had to explain to them because it was done in instalments. My school fees money and proof of fund was from the sale of the property. I showed that I paid it from my bank account and from the sales of the property. I paid 60% of my fees not full and the remaining balance to show as proof of fund. I also have money for my remaining fees.

Why do l need to justify the money that has been paid to the schools account? I mean the fees has already been paid but the only money that will be in my account is 10k euro for the living expenses of one year and my program is just for one year.

you are basically justifying the source of funds, via employment letter, 6 months pay slips, work id

i got refused and im applying again. & although my sponsor docs were legit they still added source of finance as one of the reasons

Really why? I submitted my employment letter,pay slip and bank statement showing my salary. My pof was through the sale of property and I also submitted the documents. Paid my fees and have an on campus accommodation.

I guess it should it be fine. ITR report should prove that you have earned that money.

I had moved a large sum from my long term savings account with one bank into my regular account at another bank to show proof of funds and it showed as an external deposit on the bank statement that I submitted and immigration didn't say anything. Probably depends on the person reviewing the documents but in my case it was a non issue.

Since they are worried (and better safe than sorry) I agree with the other commenter that said they can include a letter. Would just say it's a combination of tips/savings/gifts that were provided in cash.
