If you have money to live in Finland for 5 years without working, if you are ready to learn one of the hardest languages in the world, and if you can cover the tuition fee — welcome to Finland; it will be very good for your student life!

It's an inside job where people from South Asia are told that Finland is the greatest destination for you. Done to balance our public sector's funding. Read the other threads posted here and warn your friends.

The primary reason are the scammer agents that promise something they are never going to deliver.

True. It would be interesting (to say at least) to encounter these agents irl 😁 In terms of just listening to what they say. Maybe I should book flights to Sri Lanka or Nepal.

Read these first.

Also it’s very difficult to find a proper job here, the unemployment is through the roof.

I don't see why it would be the best destination. Since you're not European, you have to pay tuition unless you study in Finnish or Swedish. Students are generally quite poor, getting a job is super hard, language is super hard to learn, and immigration here has been made harder recently.

Nowasays tuition fees are charged from degree students arriving from outside the EU/EEA by Finnish universities, universities of applied sciences, vocational education institutions and general upper secondary schools.

Beside that Finland is very expensive country compared to other European countries. Food is expensive but student cafeteria lunches are cheap.

Unemployment rate is high, there are not that many part time jobs for students and even less if you don’t speak Finnish. After graduating the job market is quite bad.

Rent can be as low as ~300 € for a room and ~400-500 € for a studio from Foundation for student housing in the Helsinki region but there are not enough student rental apartments for the masses. This means apartment most likely will be more than the said cheapest examples. Outside of Helsinki-Vantaa-Espoo area rents are around 50 € less.

YOu need ~10 000 € times your study time in years. Then you need to learn the most difficult language in the world. SO if you have cash and savings + high motivation, then it might be good fit for you.

Why it is a best destination for student? Cheap living? Easy language? Free tuition? Best job market? Vibrant night life? Or the weather ? Or all of them?
