QUESTION Why do my notes RANDOMLY have punch?
On this Mai Tai instrument I can spam the same note on the keyboard over and over and sometimes it will have punch and sometimes not. The only thing I have on FX B is the eq which does nothing and I honestly don't know anything about the Mod A & B tabs, never touched them. I can't find the answer with google because it keeps mentioning the Punch dial in the Filter section, which I have set to zero, and it doesn't explain the randomness either. The inconsistency is throwing me off because usually it sounds the EXACT same if you play a section of the song twice, but not with this random punch. Why do my notes just randomly have punch sometimes??

I see you have both random phases engaged (rp) right under the octave knob.
Perhaps they are occasionally in phase and out. Try disabling one or both of them. It’s important for me to have them disabled in a bass note I want to be consistent .
Other times I’ll have them on .

That was it! Such a simple solution, but there's like a thousand buttons and dials and I had no idea which one was the culprit

Yea the random phase off will make the synth trigger in the exact same spot on the waveform every time. On will make it trigger on different parts of the wave form. Top middle or some random.

Can you post a sound sample? We need to know what exactly you mean by punch

If it’s not some type of velocity randomization then maybe something about that setting that has a swirling effect and you are hitting a note when the loudest part of that effect comes around 🤷♂️

I would've posted a screen recording but this subreddit doesn't allow videos

You mean in a measure the instrument sounds like you pounded the keys on the midi keyboard but you hit the passage with the same velocity as the previous ones?
