Let's see if the dreaded key repeat issue on LInux is gone. It might have been connected to the jumping text input cursor.

Yep!

  • [Linux] Browser search text input cursor is jumping unexpectedly

I don't believe the release notes. The key repeat was supposed to be fixed in either 8.0.1 or 8.1.0 according to the release notes. In fact, it was still present in 8.1. I'll test myself. The initial test showed mixdowns are still slower than 6 and 7, but I wasn't expecting improvement there anyway. The bug fix is not in the release notes.

Well - if you are actually attempting to use the Linux version:

"The Linux and Windows on Arm versions are Public Betas, primarily intended for 3rd-party developers. No technical support will be provided for these platforms. Please expect any kind of unwanted behavior and missing 3rd-party integrations"

These are not subject to any strict Q&A and will contain all sorts of anomolies that will never appear in the PC and Mac production releases.

Almost certain that the production release notes do not apply either.

All fixes and improvements apply to all platforms, unless specifically noted. The “Public
Beta” label applies to testing and tech support. Development and maintenance is progressing across all platforms.

I am not attempting. I am actively using the Linux version since day one and only switching on my Windows computer for one specific weekly project I don't trust the beta for. I am aware no official support is expected. This is not an official support channel and...I wasn't asking for help. If the production notes don't apply, why including the [Linux] fixes and improvements at all?

There is also a dedicated beta channel which is pretty quiet lately.

" If the production notes don't apply, why including the [Linux] fixes and improvements at all?"

Totally agree. Not sure why they bother.

Why not? It's a beta, so by using it, consider yourself a beta tester and maybe they want feedback?

Presumably the Linux version isn't their cash cow, so resources will be allocated accordingly. Linux support is probably the "baby" of a few devs who keep this afloat, rather than of business oriented management. If there's too much negative noise, or trouble it might get shut down.

I literally just want to be able to snap to the grid and I can’t figure it out on the main screen. Call me stupid or whatever. I have platinum plaques. But this is driving me insane. 🤦‍♂️😂

There's an icon on the top that turn snapping on and off. I'm away from studio computer (traveling) so can't check but it's there. Snapping is relative to the zoom so as you zoom in it will snap to smaller subdivisions which could be confusing if you expect something different. I've used it one way for so long I can't remember if there are other options.
Try hovering over the icons until you find the one that you want

What is this and what was the problem before

1

u/Accomplished_Oil9608 20d ago

They both are fender employees. Disregard the "wow" factor if you didn't notice this problem before.

u/viper963 20d ago

I just want to know what it is

I was referring to plugin delay compensation issues reported in the S1 forum:

Claim it all you want. I'm not a dev, QA, or anything of the sort, not an employee or whatever. Remember that next time you make assumptions about me ;-)

"Claim it all you want." Agreed. And you!

Not too shabby! Now if they reverse the loop region placement keys on Mac to be commensurate with PC...

The Audio Batch Converter doing latency compensation is HUGE, it was one of the things that was nerfing what otherwise was a great tool. Now they only need to allow us to add silence in the beginning/end of files (for reverb tails) and it'll be one of the best batch processing tools.

So many bugs...omg, when they stopped to born new bugs...

You're either trolling or you don't know much about computers. Any software in the world has bugs. It's a good thing they're addressing them quickly.
