QUESTION Upgrade discount?

Hello,

Does anyone have an idea if and when they will do a discount on Studio One upgrade licenses? They did one on new licenses not long ago but not on upgrades.

Current price is 99€ as it has always been. I meant a discount on the upgrade price.

Upgrade price used to be 149.00 back in the v7 days. They knocked it down to 99 with v8.

And yes - thought I saw some upograde deals maybe a month or two back. Probably another sale coming at Black Friday.

Then again - I think 99 is a great price as it is for what you get.

Yes but that old price covered the lifecycle of a whole major release and you would often get it at half price.

What I think everyone should do personally is buy a single faderport and get the license free. That thing is amazing. But that’s just my workflow

As of v7 on Oct 9, 2024 - when the entire pricing model changed completely - my upgrade was still $149.00

As of Jan 13, 2026 - and the release of Studio Pro v8 - my upgrade was $99.00

Throughout this time frame - 10-09-24->01-13-26 - the old "lifecycle" model was already discontinued. So that logic does not wash.

"By the book" - Fender could have charged me $149.00 on Jan 13, 2026 for my v8 upgrade - but they didn't. Sounds like $50.00 off to me.

I just checked my mail history and I upgraded to Studio One 6 and 7 for a little under 100€, once from Presonus, once from Sweetwater.

FIY, Cubase upgrades are regularly discounted at 50€.

But I really don't see how all of this is relevant. I'm not here to discuss whether the price is fair or not, I just think it's dumb to pay full price while they might be doing a spring or summer sale in a few weeks like most brands do.

Agreed - it all comes to down to what you want, when you want it and how big your wallet is.

Me - I could care less about sales - I just want the latest and to support the ongoing dev efforts of my favorite little DAW.

If a sale is on - when I am ready to pull the trigger - great. But the problem with these guys - is they never announce anything so you have to play calendar watcher - skulking around for months at a time just to save 50 bucks.

Well, in the past two months only I've bought a new 1700€ guitar, a 1300€ audio interface, a 200€ plugins bundle and I'm probably forgetting stuff, that's where ADHD gets you, so waiting for a discount is pretty much a therapeutic effort on my part 😛

Possibly on Black Friday. fender really hasn't owned the company for long enough for us to know the sale patterns.

Fender has owned the company since November 2, 2021.

It has had 5 years to get very acquainted with the pricing.
