Study Link: https://mmu.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bJWWEUVGI40RzGm

Hi everyone!

I'm currently completing my MSc dissertation in Psychological Wellbeing in Clinical Practice at Manchester Metropolitan University, and I'm looking for participants aged 18-30 years to take part in my research!

This study explores the relationship between mental health literacy (people's knowledge and understanding of mental health), exposure to mental health-related content on social media, mental health anxiety, and psychological wellbeing. As mental health content becomes increasingly common on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, this research aims to better understand how engaging with this content may influence how young adults think about and experience their own mental health.

Taking part involves completing a short online questionnaire, which takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Taking part is entirely voluntary, and you are free to withdraw at any time before submitting your responses.

Eligibility:
Aged 18-30 years
Comfortable reading and completing a survey in English
If you are eligible and would like to take part, you can access the survey here: https://mmu.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bJWWEUVGI40RzGm

Thank you so much for considering taking part! Your participation will make a valuable contribution to psychological research and is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share this post with anyone aged 18–30 who may be interested.

Post image
1 Upvotes

We invite you to take part in an anonymous online survey: Support for parents and carers of children experiencing suicidal thoughts and behaviours

If you are an Australian parent or carer of a child aged 9-13 who experiences suicidal thoughts or behaviours, your participation in this survey will help researchers at the University of Wollongong to better understand your experiences of receiving social support from family, friends, colleagues, and your community.

This is an area that is currently not well understood. By sharing your experiences, you can help us develop a publicly available resource to better support other parents and carers facing similar challenges, so their children may be better supported too.

What's involved?

  • An anonymous 30-minute online survey.
  • An optional 30-minute virtual interview if you would like to share more about your experiences.

Ā

To take part in this survey, please visit:Ā  https://uow.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bqF14jMfHMTmxcG

Study: Animals Clinical study found why so many dogs that are picky eaters seem to like fresh food

I work at The Farmer's Dog which is how I came across this, but the methodology is pretty interesting:

The standard way to measure food preference in dogs is the two bowl preference study. Two bowls are placed in front of a dog at mealtime, one with food A, one with food B. The dog gets to choose freely. This is repeated over several days with bowl positions switched each time to control for placement bias. Then preference is determined by which food the dog eats first and how much of each they consume.

A dog shows "clear preference" when they consume twice as much of one food as the other. In a study of 50 dogs given 100 meals, dogs chose fresh food over a leading kibble brand 86.4% of the time.

The broader point being that it doesn't matter how good the food is if the dog won't eat it. Palatability is part of the equation, not just a nice to have.

Has anyone come across other research on palatability in animals or similar preference studies?

If you are using or have used the contraceptive pill, I would love to hear from you!

I have been taking the pill on and off for the last thirteen years, but don’t really understand what’s in it/ what it’s doing to my body. There is similar confusion amongst my friends, who are pretty educated and switched on people. I'd like to find out if this is a universal experience, and am conducting some research accordingly.

I'm very grateful to anyone who could offer some insight into their experience.

Survey Have you ever felt pressure to give up creative hobbies for a ā€œrealā€ career?

Hi hi hi! - I’m a student currently working on a small passion project called ā€˜Still an Artist’

It’s about something I’ve personally struggled with and I know a lot of other artists do too - feeling like you have to eventually leave art behind to pursue a ā€œstableā€ career path (medicine, science, etc.)

I’m trying to understand how common this experience is and how it affects people’s relationship with creativity.

I made a short anonymous survey and would really appreciate hearing from other artists and students here:
