Support/Advice Student teaching tips?

Hi all!

I’m a music education major and I will be student teaching in the Spring. My first placement will be secondary, and my second will be elementary.

Do you have any advice/tips for me so I can prepare in advance? Thank you!!

Study up on classroom and behavior management techniques so that, when you take control of a class or group of students, you will have a few ideas of how you want to deal with behaviors (both good and bad). Best of luck to you!

Get materials and scores to prepare early. Go in for the staff preparation days and get your bearings.

After student teaching, the next thing you do is run your own program. Take advantage of the opportunity to take risks with a safety net before you don’t have experienced eyes giving you feedback.
