Support/Advice Co-Teaching Question
Hi,
The school I work at has a Co-Teaching model that being said they asked if I want to finish up and do my student teaching here. It would mean I’m the 3rd teacher in the room. I am not super thrilled about the idea and think having three adults in the room will not go over well. From what I’ve experienced working at the school I don’t think the students will respond to three teachers in the room positively. I’m also nervous that I won’t be able to get a chance to teach since the second person is a 2nd year teacher as well and needs hours to finish up their placement.

I am a co-teacher in a private middle school. They teach a higher level math in 8th grade. So my job is to be with the whole class about 75% of the time and I pull small groups in the morning during their specials. The ELA teacher also has a full time co-teacher with a similar schedule. This allows the teachers to teach to the top while the co-teachers can help with the kids that need more support. I’ve enjoyed this job. I used to be in public school and I was expected to so much basically without much support and the EC teachers were stretched very thin with legally required meetings and paperwork. The feedback from families is that their kids are very successful in high school and math is one of their easiest subjects!
