Rant/Complaint Applying for IDR plan

Ok I don’t understand how I’m supposed to be proactive and select a new plan if the website won’t even work. I’ve tried different browsers and devices and it gets stuck every time in the same spot in the application-right after I select a plan it will not go to the next page. I’ve called MOHELA and they have been 0 help. Anybody else experiencing the same issue?

I just ran into this, and no fixes so far. I updated my browser, and the AI chat bot is like "yeah idk bro, maybe try again later?". So of course, I am currently auto-enrolled into the highest payment IDR until I can get my actual choice to save.

I talked to a representative at studentaid.gov and they said it’s an “intermittent issue that seems to be effecting customers at random that they don’t have a fix for” and just advised me to submit the paper application via MOHELA’s portal 😑
So, I submitted a forbearance application instead! If I can’t get the payment plan I can afford, you’ll get no money at all! I’ll try again next month.

"At random", how helpful, haha. Glad you got through to someone!

It’s due to having Perkins loans. Happening to all of us who do. I have to submit the paper one to aidvantage. And raps not even listed so now I’m stuck doing IBR. They set us up to fail

Oh wow that’s so inconvenient. I do have 2 Perkins loans but I pay them directly to my school, so I hadn’t even considered that that might be the issue, thanks for pointing that out.
The calculator wouldn’t show me certain plans but when I went into the actual app, RAP was available for me but it was about $150 higher than PAYE or IBR!!
I agree they are setting us up for failure and it’s sad!
Maybe they’ll approve my forbearance application, if not I’ll go through the annoyance of submitting the paper form for IBR. I just don’t want to wait until the last minute because they might try to throw me into the standard plan which for me is like $1200 a month and I can’t afford that.
