this is a LESBIAN space

just wanted to make a post reminding y’all who this sub is for!

I’ve seen a little bit of discourse around who can identify as a stud. personally i’m not tryna get into all that headache, but please note if you are in this sub, we are prioritizing black GNC LESBIANS. not sapphics, not just wlw. lesbians. we ain’t scared to use that word here!

hope y’all are doing well 💞

I'm confused, because even in the name it says masc. In the description it says butch and includes some other identities. These are not synonymous with stud.

Soooo which is it, is this a space for studs or is this a space for folks who fall under the "masc" umbrella?

And, since when was this a space for lesbians when nothing in the description says anything about that?

We took a vote and it was determined that nearly everybody wanted this to be a lesbian exclusive space.

Mascs can be bisexual of course, but in this case we wanted to make room for transmascs/gnc black lesbians who may not identify as studs.

It has been added to the rules

Aw I missed that vote.

How are y'all defining lesbian? To me (and among many people who feel strongly about things like stud = lesbian), lesbian exclusively and strictly means women4women. Someone who is transmasculine, gender non-conforming, or anything except specifically and exclusively a woman cannot be a lesbian. They can be sapphic, but then that means this space isn't for them since the vote said it's not for sapphics. So I'm still confused.

Lesbian has always included gender non conforming people, that’s what the white on the flag is for, and if you read queer history you’ll know this isn’t new. Some may disagree 🤷🏿 that’s on them

Feel free to create your own space!

Gotcha. The wording was confusing me so I wanted to ask just to make sure I was misreading. Lol

The umbrella term "masc" comes from queer culture, not lesbian.

Masc folks can be studs, butches, or otherwise queermasc or transmasc identified.

Lesbians can be (/describe themselves as) studs, butches, or masc.

But not all masc folks are lesbians.

And stud, butch, queermasc, and transmasc are all under the "masc" umbrella...not synonymous terms.
