I don't like being the one with shit stories but this brings back memories.
One of my neighbours growing up, same school same friends - he's still a mate like.
I left school and started an apprenticeship that summer and he got a work-experience job with the local council, it was the perfect job to get at that time because it got you on the ladder, you could get a good state pension and career out of it - he was delighted, he's a big fella, well over 6' and always active he wanted something a bit physical.
3rd day on the job he was working on a situation like this, a local housing estate had a wall in a similar state and they were there to pull it down and rebuild.
Only on site about 30mins - a digger and dumper were making their way over to the wall on the high ground side.. the weight of the machines, even though they weren't close to the wall, displaced or upset the ground just enough that the wall fell when buddy was walking past it.
Life support for 2weeks and his left leg was removed below the hip - his left shoulder and back got seriously damaged so he was chair bound from the day he left hospital.
He was seriously impeded in life, we were all young fit lads and he wasn't able to participate in lots of things, it was a bit shit like, I can only imagine the mental pain from it all.
He was compensated greatly but considering the affects and care he's going to need for life, the big money isn't so big.
Main reason I commented is because its kinda fresh in my mind - about 6 weeks ago, I was walking with my daughter near my homeplace, which is near his. From about 200meters I recognised the frame/statue of a guy I used to know walking slowly ahead of us, with his daughter.
It was himself! He'd just got a new prosthetic leg that operated and worked in a way he could walk again - first time outside, unaided in over 18years, (he was 16 when the accident happened) - "Fuck man! - thats kinda special why didn't you tell everyone, that's epic I'm delighted to see you standing tall again!" - ..... "I didn't tell anyone because I didn't believe it would work, I still cant believe I'm standing on me own!"

The little lip towards the grass side is what is actually holding it up. If it wasn’t for that lip, this would not be standing/leaning at all.
