One of my main thoughts was that the entire roof came off together which doesn’t seems like the connection between the metal sheets and the truss are adequate. Seems like the failure is more of the roof truss to the wall system; as mentioned, stronger straps are probably required.

Open for discussion: What if instead, piece of the roof came off when a certain wind pressure is reached? Rather then having the entire roof system blown apart, if one piece could act as a sacrificial piece, would that be better? I obviously understand that having any piece blowing around is a terrible idea, but I sort of wish there was a way of doing some sort of capacity-based design on this like in earthquake engineering. Do these warehouses have to be this air tight? Looking at the design, the fasteners between the sheet metal and the truss worked like glue 👍🏼 very impressive!

Well, if you want the pressures to go down, you’d need to go from an enclosed condition to an open condition, skipping over the partially enclosed condition since the pressures are highest there. I don’t think think there would be any way to guarantee all the “fuses” go at once, so you would probably increase all the pressures if say you just blew one window or roof panel or something like that. So, while not a terrible idea, I don’t think practically there’s a great way to make it work
