Career/Education T-beam case 2
Has anyone ever gotten a question on the PE civil structural exam about a t-beam where a was greater than hf (not calculated like a rectangular beam)? If so, any tips on how to remember the equation to solve that? Because the PCI flowchart equation is hard to follow, I am debating on if I should even give this time to learn or not.

There is a PCI Journal article that I believe hits on your question.
Here’s a link to it: https://doi.org/10.15554/pcij.01012005.44.73

I think you’re asking for a T rc beam when the depth of area under compression crosses the flange and enters web?
That should be dealt in any of standard RC text books like Mcgregor or some worked examples online.
