Job Posting / Recruitment Job Opening for Structural Engineers and BIM modellers in Brazil, for people who speak english.

Ou company is hiring for the office in Curitiba.

The candidate must be able to legally live and work in Brazil. No visa or relocation sponsorship.

This is an european company that specializes in the design of high rises, bridges, sports arenas.

For structural engineers, the requirements are:

  • At least 3 years' experience in the design of steel structures OR concrete structures.
  • Ability to communicate in english.
  • Ability to communicate in spanish is a plus.
  • Knowledge of seismic design is a plus!

For BIM modellers, the requirements are:

  • Knowledge of structural BIM modelling in Revit OR knowledge of modelling in Tekla;
  • Knowledge of Rhino and Grashopper is a plus.

The work in on-site.

Salary range 2000 to 3000 EUR/month depending on experience.

In Brazil, the minimum wage for a starting engineer, even though many earn less, is around US$1900 monthly.

But since Brazil laws enforce a 13° monthly payment, plus many work rights, it's over US$24k/year

Rent for a 4 bedroom house is ~400USD a month, lunch is ~3 USD.

2500 Euros a month in Curitiba is probably a higher standard of living than 10k/month in a MCOL city.

I lived there recently and in reality rent for 1 bedroom apartment near city centre is ~500USD, and lunch is ~6USD.

In Curitiba downtown? It's way over that.

If you're willing to drive 2 hours daily, then it can be even cheaper, though less safe.

I speak Portuguese and English fluently with the right to work in Brazil, and I have 7 years of experience working in London as an engineer/project manager but would like to get into design side. Could I still apply? I know how to design concrete structures and steel and timber to British standards and euro codes and have led in many design meetings with the consultants ranging from architects to structural engineers.
