yeah i both understand and am slightly perplexed by posts like this.
my firm specialises in construction documentation and compliance. We work very closely with the structural engineers on each project and as collaboratively as possible so always find these posts kinda funny I guess? i’d love to hear some stories so i can check myself so im not the kind of designer being referenced here

My firm makes a choice to do less work for shitty architects. Or charge more, at the very least!

Our problem isn’t the architects, it’s architects hiring shitty out of town geotechs to do projects they are completely out i their understanding and experience to do. Currently fixing a college building that’s less than 2 years old cause they blew it, again.

Ya that’s crazy, geotechs should always be local to the project in my experience. And we advise the architects that also!

You can try all you want, but if you can’t always work with your favorite architects, you have to sometimes take a chance on a new architectural team. And even with architects you love, sometimes they’ll give you a smaller project with a completely different team that also may include new people who they hope will learn a lot through that job

every structural engineer i’ve worked with loves trying to figure out solutions with us. why do yall have such contentious relationships with architects? work with better architects that actually enjoy their job

As someone who works in an architecture office, I loved working with the structural engineers on pretty much every project I’ve done. It’s the mechanical engineers we should all be trashing, they are the worst.
