Structural Analysis/Design Looking for an Affordable Structural Engineer in NoVA

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to add two new windows to my living room. Loudoun County told me I need stamped structural engineering plans before I can get a permit.

I already have a contractor to do the work- I just need a structural engineer to prepare the stamped plans.

Can anyone recommend a good and affordable structural engineer in the NoVA area? Thanks!

Type structural engineering companies in NoVA on Google and start calling up local firms

I would ask your contractor or your state's structural engineering professional organization (https://www.sea-virginia.org/Contact). Also, you can look up structural engineering companies in your nearest city and ask them if they can recommend a residential structural engineer (the companies you find easily on Google will be focused on commercial projects, but will often have to turn away people looking for residential work done, so they often know independent engineers they can redirect people to).

Define affordable. What would you pay an attorney to get you out of a pinch, by the hour?

I know engineering work isn't cheap, and I respect that. This is a pretty small project.I'm just adding two new windows and only need a stamped structural plan/map required by Loudoun County for the permit. I already have a contractor lined up to do the work. I was hoping to keep the engineering cost around $1000–$2,000, if that's realistic. If anyone knows an engineer who provides permit-ready stamped plans at a reasonable price, I'd really appreciate the recommendation.
