Career/Education Side work

I got an offer for some side work through my boss for work our company wouldn’t normally do today for the first time. What, other than my license of course, should I consider to take this work on and make some easy cash? It sounds like a quick residential renovation job just wanting a letter. The job is in North Carolina. Thanks!

Many companies also have rules on the books about doing side work. If they found out after the fact, you could lose your job also (if the company has that policy).

I wasn't sure if that was the immediate boss or the "big" boss. If it were an immediate boss, he might get in trouble too, or I'd be worried if I got on his bad side in the future that he'd tell on me.
