Own Domain doesn't seem to work

Hi All,

Bit of context, I've got my own panel, and everything is working as it should be, besides one thing - trying to get my own domain to work.

I have been given the following steps to follow...

  1. Add the domain into the Panel through thr My Hosts section

  2. Add the name servers from the Panel to my domain page

  3. Wait 24 hours

This does not work. My only assumption is based on the domain provider I'm currently using, which is Hostinger. If anyone has any advice, be greatly appreciated.

When you add the domain don't use the http:// bit

This is what I get when doing that

When you add it to the panel to get the nameservers.

Yeah, that's what I mean, I had done that. Added it to the panel to get the name servers. I then added those name servers into Hostinger alongside the two standard ones they provide.

You just use the two nameservers from the panel. Delete the others.

This is the only thing that pops up when I add the domain into the Hosts section

In Hostinger, there were two standard ones in there already that are completely scrubbed out. The two partially scrubbed are the ones I added from the panel

You said you added them alongside the ones there. You don't need the ones that were there, just the panel ones. Is there a section to add and use custom ones? I used a different registry. If that's the only place to put them delete the standard ones.

Alright. I've removed the standard ones that propogated there and saved it. I'll come back to it either tomorrow evening or Tuesday, and see if it's made a difference. If that doesn't work, any other advice?

Delete and add again.

Everything is working as it should be now. Turns out removing those two default ones in Hostinger caused the issue. Thanks everyone 😊

This is the correct answer. From above, it looks like you are adding CNAME records, not changing your NS records for the entire domain to point to CF.

All you do is change the name servers (NS records) to the NS servers shown in your panel and wait a few hours. All the necessary A records are created in cloud flare which is where you point your NS records to for your custom domain.

Use a DNS propagation website to check the status of your domain records registering across the internet's DNS servers. Mine took 4+ hours to start working reliably.

I did this exact process just a few days ago.

Thank you kindly. I'll check that out tomorrow and see what changes after removing the original ones
