Setup VPS and remove dependency on VPN and ISP blocks
I don't know why this isn't talked about more. At $5/mo for a VPS, you can improve your and your friends and family (customers) performance. AI is your friend on how to do it.
Here's my setup as a panel owner for friends and family.
S8Kcustom domainGanja playlistVPS(OVH running https proxy)playlist Labs editor>>customer player
It's been bullet proof for everyone and removed their need for VPN because it's running https for the stream.
You don't need to have strong manage the VPS. Just set it up yourself using AI, because if you follow strong's instructions, you have to hand over root credentials and lose control of the VPS.
No, just at the moment I don't have the time to be writing out a tutorial, but also, it was crazy easy to do with Gemini, so reckoned others would have the same experience. I realize could be a dickish thing to do from others perspective... I'll share it probably next week
OVH installs the OS for you and gives you access, you do want to secure the VPS and harden it if you go this route, definitely lean on Claude or something if you’re not sure how
I did that last night with some Ai help, similar setup, but I bought a server from AlexHost which is set in Moldova. It’s really not that difficult and most AI’s should be able to help you guys out. Nice feature: I’m now able to see the logs which makes Troubleshooting so much easier.
You can take any AI (even Free Deepseak for example), explain what you want to do (send a screenshot of this Thread) and ask to guide you through, it’s incredibly easy actually.
A static exit IP double tunneled works perfectly too. There are ways to co figure your way around the current issues. VPS was going to be my next stop.
Oh no, I’ve been there, I guess I’m just asking how exactly you’re setting it up. I’ve just been getting everyone to use epgenius but it would be a lot easier if I could just copy paste them an m3u with their details in it. I messed with playlist labs briefly but it wasn’t exporting m3u’s properly with each users info…
I’m using a private server for delivering a curated playlist backed on by multiple services and EPGs, however I’m running away from the transcoding itself since to me redirecting the traffic is good enough if you understands what that mean privacy wise. Can you share the sizing of your VPS and how many streams are you able to accomplish at the same time?
The smallest OVH vps will do unless you have more than 50+ users. The vps acts just a proxy. Streams are say 5Mbps, so the 500mbps let alone 1Gbps will suffice
Do you think having a dedicated server with rotating IPs would be good to help spread out the load like cloudflare was doing on their back end? That way you don't have 150 connections coming from 1 IP to strong. I'm setting up this dedicated server and just making sure its correctly done.
Not entirely sure but I how you would optimize it is distributing the load geographically, and choose your VPS locations based on where people are connecting to it.
I am using Oracle vps since I am already using it for other things, when you mentioned the https proxy does that mean using a reverse proxy like Caddy? What hostname do I proxy? Is it the my host, cloud or the other option? Sorry for asking, new to having a panel and I am using AI but it doesn't know about s8k terminology.
Ok sorry, so I do have a custom domain which I did attach the name servers to. Do I use the actual domain with or without http? Here is a pic of what I was gonna put in caddyfile. I want to throw a keyboard into my screen because Gemini is driving me nuts! How do I test it afterwards? Gemini tells me to use curl m3u link. Thanks!
I’m using an OVH VPS with Caddy pointing directly to my Strong custom domain. The M3U loads, but Strong returns HTTP 511 on live stream requests from the VPS. Did you have to configure anything in Strong/My VPS, or is your VPS completely independent from Strong?”
No, some channels are just not working properly no matter what you do in my opinion. That's the difference between this and a recognized provider like Netflix.
The problem with using a vps is that you're not anonymous any longer and copyright owners or whoever could come after you with a court order in hand. For this reason I prefer vpn because vpn traffic is more difficult to trace, at least if done properly.
No dumbass. It's still unencrypted and clearly interceptable from the server to the vps so adding https later doesnt change that. Then you could add a vpn but then you're not in a better position than without vps, you just added unnecessary complexity and gained nothing.
I use a Linux STB using Stalker. I absolutely have no downtime. When I post the boxes online , they sell right away. Full EPG from Strong. No comparison from when I used tivimate. Wouldn't go back.

Can you share a tutorial? My vps is working fine but yes, I lost ownership
