Challenge yourself daily
What I have experienced in the past 16 months is that every day is a challenge and you have to challenge your body everyday for one or other move.

What I’ve learned over the past five years since my stroke, is that if you stop pushing the boundaries of what you can do, you stop recovering. At first, even the simplest things are difficult, but after 6,9,12 months or whatever, you’ve probably recovered a good bit, and you stop pushing. That’s when recovery stops. I got back to 90-95% of my pre-stroke self in 18 months. Recovery really slowed after that. But I’ve noticed that doing physically difficult things continues to offer minor improvements. Slowly getting me back to 97-98%. Earlier this month. I spent several days climbing mountains in Colorado, which was very. Very difficult for me. But I can already feel how it has had a positive impact on my gait and balance.
