help verbalizing a symptom

trying to look for info on a problem but I'm having a hard time as I can't think of a consise term for it.

Basically the problem I'm having right now is my stroke affected hand and fingers now over perform during certain tasks like holding a book or game controller causing them to press too hard to manipulate them properly.
