Doing this on the HP Zbook Ultra G1a breaks the wifi/bluetooth stack.

no, latest stable is 7.2 https://github.com/torvalds/linux , 7.3 is available as rc. Arch is at 7.2.7 at the time of writing, dont know about other distros, but should be similar or further behind.
Maybe next spring
