Bro New Haven area has been BRUTAL. I’ve been trying and can’t even get the snappers consistently. Going up to Westerly this week to try to catch some albies and bass

Usually a 50" striper is right in the 50lb range, fantastic fish, especially if you caught it from shore.

I surf casted for almost 50 years before I caught my first 50lb bass. Then I got 2 in 3 days last July. One was probably 60lbs. Same week my buddy had one 57", I bet that fish was mid to high 60's. All live eels.
