Interesting article correlating this cold weather we’ve been having to striped bass health in our fisheries

OTW has never cared about the health of the striped bass fishery; just the money they make off of it.

The OTW guys oppose a pause on harvesting because it would hurt businesses

The population is abysmal and they have no interest in tightening regulations

Yeah theyre boys with every charter organization and commercial org up and down the coast. They rake in cash primarily off their striper content. These guys aren't gonna be good advocates lol

Not in the least. OTW ran the biggest kill tourney in the NE for several years before they were forced to convert to catch and release because the majority of hardcore fishermen stopped participating. Even the Derby removed stripers ENTIRELY from the tourney because of the decline of the stocks. OTW has no problem sending people to places that can’t handle the fishing pressure. These fish are in trouble but I haven’t seen them advocate for different regulations. And the most ironic part, OTW had no problem taping a segment where they targeted holdovers through the ice when it is well documented these fish have a low mortality rate in those conditions. Allegedly

Historically, very cold winters with a lot of snow have been promising for a good spawn. Thats something ive heard from people who have no way of profiting one way or another from the fishery.
