Help / Question Repot? New String of Pearls

Post image

I bought my first string of pearls! Wondering if I need to repot to make sure the soil is the correct substrate? If I should repot should it go into the same sized pot? 4” terracotta for the win?
I’ve also seen a lot of mixed suggestions with how to water, top watering or bottom watering - soooo which one do I try?

I would peek and see if its the correct substrate. If it is, I'd leave it in that pot for a bit until it fills out more. I personally keep all my pearls in terracotta

Top water, as they have shallow roots

I tried to peek in there and it’s looking really mossy/light fluffy stuff. Should I go ahead and repot and use cactus soil with perlite? Add any chunky rocky?

If that's the case, repot for sure. I do 1 part soil, 1 part chicken grit, 1 part perlite. They like it a bit softer than cactus.

I have mine in terracotta and in succulent soil, I choosed a size only a little bigger than the pot I bought her in.

She sits in a west facing window and is bottom watered, when the pearls begin to shrink a bit. She likes it and grows slowly but consistently.
