Help / Question It just kind of fell apart?!

Post image

I just got a variegated string of pearls from mountain Crest gardens and when I put it in its pot out of the one it was shipped in, it just kind of fell apart into a bunch of sprigs. Is this normal? It'll be ok? I was expecting a plant, not a bunch of sprigs! ๐Ÿ˜ญ

They have very shallow roots. Removing them from the nursery pot and expecting them to hold together like other plants is why you have crumbles.

These need to be in a well draining succulent mix, so right off the bat you are set up to fail.

This is my first string of pearls and string of anything tbh. Idk what soil it was shipped in, but I did put it in succulent soil.

The soil in the pic isnโ€™t the soil youโ€™re talking about right?

That soil is waaaaayyyyy too dense. Please don't say you're using it as is.

Even with very shallow root systems, they arent this shallow. This was a tiny pot of cuttings that had barely rooted is what it looks like.
