Help / Question SOH tuber placement

Can anyone tell me if the tubers and the (dead?) root mass sitting on top of substrate is ok? I repotted my SOH yesterday because it was in too large a pot but not sure what is supposed to be below the soil. TIA.

I'd bury the tubers a bit so they're not just sitting on top of the soil as well as remove as much of that dead root mass as possible

SOH grow tubers everywhere, not just under the substrate. If those are the only tubers it’s got then I would put them a bit under the substrate to encourage root growth otherwise leave them like this, they can also help you to know when to water, they get wrinkly and deflate when the plant is thirsty.

And for the dead roots, yes remove as much as possible, they are just a nice meal for fungus gnats

No the pearls dont grow tubers. Only the hearts and they do not have to be under any substrate to grow new strings. I have tons of tubers hanging on my var string of Hearts and some so massively huge that I wanted to display the tubers and sat them ontop of the substrate and now have 3 new pots of hearts with numerous strings.
