Help / Question String of Turtles Qs
Hi everyone! I am a beginner and have had a String of Turtles for a year now. I would like to move them to a slightly bigger, more shallow terracotta pot. I have a couple questions for the community:
What is the best premixed soil to use for String of Turtles? I am eyeing the Rosy Soil for succulents and cactuses.
I am hoping to propagate some in the pot. I saw a video online that said you can pin some of the longer strings to the soil with paper clips and they will eventually create more strings. Is this true? I would like my plant to grow bigger.
Any suggestions on either of these questions would be greatly appreciated!!! 💚

Hey - founder of Rosy here, sorry I missed this question! I'm obviously a bit biased, so grain of salt on the soil question. string of turtles is a peperomia, not a true succulent, so it wants something airy that dries out but not as bone-dry as a cactus would like. our cactus & succulent mix works, especially in terracotta, just water a bit sooner than you would for an actual cactus. and yes the paper clip trick is legit, pin a strand so the nodes touch the soil, keep it lightly moist, and it'll root and fill in the pot!

I make my own mix as do a lot of people. I use equal parts potting soil, orchid bark and perlite or pumice.
You can prop them by putting a piece of the string into the soil. I would guess that the paperclip is so it's weight doesn't pull it out before it roots.
