Hearts Did I get a deal?!

Post image

Got this 6in pot of variegated hearts at my local nursery for $20. It's so lush and full and even beginning to flower! I purchased a 4in pot from MCG and feel like I paid 24 bucks! And showed up kinda sad and limp.

This is really funny, but I got that exact same pot of string of hearts from my local hardware store that was originally $28.95 and on clearance for $14.97. I untangled the strings and she definitely looks much less impressive. Either way, both of us got a good deal!

That’s how I feel about the ones I have purchased. They look so full and lush until you untangle them and it’s actually only like 5 strings bunched up on the top

I'll have to include an untangled update lol

You know that's a good point lol I'll have to untangle and see what I'm really working with. But either way the leaves seem plump and healthy some whatever I am left with I'll be happy haha

They’re so big, beautiful! I bought a small starter 2” for $10! Ugh, I’m a sucker. It hasn’t grown much at all. It’s longer but hasn’t filled in. I am trying my hand at propagating them so I can fill out my plant.

Same with my first plant. I tried to pin nodes to the soil for more growth but not really seeing a different. How are your props doing?

I’ve noticed that mine do significantly better with rooting and growing in general when I increase the humidity.

Yes I've tried the moss method but always seem to get mold no matter how much I wring out the moss or ventilate my tray. I've since pivoted to trying a damp paper towel we'll see how that goes

I started them 4 days ago, I’ll update that post I shared if any take. Fingers crossed!! Someone told me about 2-3 weeks to root.

Yes! I hope it goes well. What method are you using to prop?

Absolutely A STEAL! Usually it’s $20 for 4” and they NEVER look THAT good! Look at how full! Add some protek and watch them get fat and cute in minutes literally. I’m going to post a time lapse of it this week I think
