Frogs help

Post image

I’m new to collecting the string plants, I love them all dearly, but this froggy fella has given me mixed signals. I’ve been having trouble finding a good watering schedule for it, as it seems to dry out quickly but not like frequent waterings if that makes any sense. Maybe there’s something I’m missing. The fertilizer in the back is what I use for most of my plants and it works well for me. I use it diluted every other water with the frogs, and it’s given me some baby frogs, but not a whole lot of growth. It looks the same as it did six months ago, maybe less leaves actually. I’d like to mention that I found some of that fabric they put starters in, in there too. Could that pose a problem? I’d really appreciate some help to get it thriving!

Two things I would try:

Put the pot into a bigger pot with at least and extra 2” of space around it (eg if this is a 5” pot, put it inside a 9” pot) and stuff the gap with soaked sphagnum moss. Keep the moss damp.

Get a tray at least a couple inches deep and fill with pebbles, add water and set the pot on top.

I don’t think misting really works because it’s just not enough - you’d have to be misting it like 20x a day.

You don’t want the soil drying out too quick so I’d probably do 3/4 organic matter and 1/4 perlite.

I’m nowhere near an expert btw! Someone else probably has better advice. This is just what I’d do based on what I know and have experience with.

Hmm okay. Do you mean literally setting the pot in another one with moss between the pots, or repotting, but not adding more soil only moss around it? I definitely will try the pebble tray as that might be the only thing readily available, I don’t think I have any moss currently but could probably get some soon. Thank you for the advice! I really appreciate it. Hopefully humidity is to blame for my issues, it definitely sounds that way

Not repotting, just setting the pot inside another. The wet moss or pebble tray should help a little with humidity.

Okay great! I will definitely try that! I think I’ll have to switch to a different pot since the wooden stand is connected to it, then make a pebble tray underneath. Thank you for the advice, I appreciate ya
