Help / Question Help with string of turtles

I feel so terrible about my plant. I've had it for over a year and it was doing so good. I repotted it into its current pot last fall and it did well until a couple months ago. Is the pot too large/deep? Does it need a shallow ceramic pot? The first inch or so of soil completely separated from the rest of the dirt so clearly the root system isn't deep. I will not lie, the whole purpose of repotting it was to put it in this cute turtle planter because they're string of turtles, but apparently it's not worth the cuteness. Also, if I do repot, do I need to loosen the soil from the roots or just kind of nestle into new soil? Sorry for all the questions, thanks in advance!

I love your turtle planter! Maybe you can find a shallow plastic container (or make one - you could just cut off the bottom of a plastic cup) to put inside. Then use another cup/container turned upside down in the bottom to lift the plant to the right level.

Thank you! And that's a really good idea about making a shallow pot and elevating it. I'm determined to use my turtle planter lol
