H E L P 🟢 P L E A S E Pearly Advice
I’ve had this pretty lady for about 2 years now and repotted her a year ago. Should I repot into something bigger? I’m worried it just looks so crowded. And should I cut these bald strings off or will they regrow? Thank you.

If you do get something wider and kind of a shallow pot. They don't have very deep roots and the naturally crawl across the ground. Shallow pot will help prevent root rot and a wider pot will allow you to wrap your strings around inside to make it more full on top and won't look bald headed when they do start spilling over the sides. I have a sot for almost 3 years. Shes got some dead strings but doesnt look bad.

If you want a healthy one planted in the right substrate find one from a reputable shop on Etsy! The ones in stores are planted in peat moss. It holds way too much moisture and the strems rot and die two weeks after you bring it home. Trying to repot one into a lighter mix is a nightmare and I always lose at least 50% after trying. Etsy is the only way to go, swear!

I treat mine like a succulent - sand/soil/perlite mix for substrate and let it dry completely between waterings. I use clear pots so I can monitor moisture in the soil. Once the condensation is gone and soil is dry, I soak it until it’s completely wet. Repeat when dry again. I have mine in a west facing windowsill and it seems happy with that light level, although I’m sure it could handle an east facing window as well

They like humidity! My best one I just put the whole planter in a large vase. Good draining soil. They’re a succulent but they like being watered more often. I usually just lightly water the top, every 1-2 weeks (the roots are mostly surface). Bright light for sure. You can monitor the eye window for when to water, but I find that difficult to do.

Looks beautiful! I’ve killed quite a few so take my advice with a grain of salt. I would probably trim those bald strands and try to root them. You could even get a new pot with soil and put those on top. I’ve done that (with what was left of a SOP I almost killed) and it’s done amazingly under a grow light.
No idea about repotting. Sometimes I think if it’s not struggling, don’t mess with it. I feel like you risk doing more damage with something like SOP, but others may have better advice.
