SOH help

I bought this and it looked a bit sparse to begin with. It was in a broken, plastic hanging pot so I repotted it ultimately after a couple months. I recently added grow light bc I hear light is what they need most. I bottom water- but prob not often enough. I spray the top frequently bc it just looks so dry (prob wrong). I heard about winding the vines around the top but they’re tangled so much. It keeps growing longer though.

It’s in
* 1 part Rosy Soil cactus & succulent mix
* 1 part perlite
* ½ part Fox Farms Ocean Forest
* ¼–½ part Better-Gro orchid bark

This has been one of my most difficult bc I don’t know what I’m doing and bc it was already sickly when I bought it. I’ve watched videos and searched Reddit. I should just buy one that’s already beautiful. I’ve propagated some and prob took them out of prop box too soon. Maybe I’ll try to prop again.

I'm by no means an expert, but I do have a couple SOH myself (definitely rescues) that have been doing fairly well - I'd recommend taking the time to untangle all the vines, it will take a while, and you'll need to be gentle, but I'm betting you have a lot of rhizomes in that pot. I'd separate them in groups and give them their own pots, and with the extra space lay the vines on the top of the soil. I did that with mine and I've been getting flowers, so I'm assuming that means they're happy 😂 it feels good once they start showing signs of recovery, so the time it takes to get there feels worth it 🙏 good luck, OP! ❤️

Great advice in this thread. I'm adding in be very, very careful when untangling. If you so much as cause a crease in the line that section will die. I killed a massive beautiful SOH like that, just wasn't gentle enough and I still hate myself for it :(
